A TRUE SUCCESS STORY THANKS TO TAMMY BROWN, BRAUNS SHEPHERDS, MILLEDGEVILLE, GA

When I got her, Greer was exactly 3 months old, and my home was her 4th already. She is my adopted rescue, and is an awesome female GSD. As soon as I got her home, my vet informed me that "had I bought her", he would take her right back because she had a heart murmur. So, from 3 to 4 months old, I was unable to exercise her until her next vet check. She still has the murmur but my husband and I had decided that from that point on, we were going to treat her like a normal puppy and pray that her heart will last a long time.

You see, my first female GSD rescue that I had for 7 1/2 years went missing in 12/09, a heartbreak that I will never get over because she was not only my pet, she was my companion dog as I'm disabled. I needed another shepherd for 2 reasons - to help fill, NOT REPLACE, the huge hole in my heart that Pasley left, and to become another companion dog for me to help with mobility issues. As it turned out, I needed Greer, and she needed me! So, month 4 of her little life, I started taking her places, exercising her, and doing basic obedience training. Much to my upset, this little girl was sooo fearful of anything and everything she came upon that was new - people, esp. kids, noises, fire hydrants, bicycles, cars...., she would bark, growl, shackles up, and lunge toward whatever was scaring her. I ended up falling because of her instead of her helping me keep from falling and I've already broken my neck once.

The one good thing that came out of my beautiful Pasley going missing is that I met many GSD and Animal Rescue friends on the internet. A favorite of my new friends, Becca, after many a hysterical email from me requesting suggestions on what to do to help Greer before she became a red zone case, Becca gave me the name of her GSD breeder, animal trainer, and now friend, Tammy Brown in Milledgeville, GA. I have affectionately nicknamed her Tammy the Terrific! Tammy listened to my story and problems and determined that the best way to help Greer would be for her to go stay at Tammy's house for a week for one on one training, then we went to Milledgeville in our RV and 3 other dogs the 2nd week and Tammy came to the park every other day and worked with both of us to continue training and work with any issues that developed when she came back into our little pack.

Okay, I am a soft-hearted, non-dominant, major dog-lover, so the thoughts of sending my rescued puppy away, from me and the only stable house she had known almost made me physically ill but I trusted Becca so we did it. Now for the best part of the story! Tammy brought Greer to the park after having her for 7 days and I swear to you, the minute my baby got out of Tammy's car, I saw a different dog! She was a happy, much more confident puppy! I kept myself from falling to the ground and hugging and kissing her but did as Tammy instructed, we started walking and then she turned Greer's leash over to me.

As we walked, she started teaching me how Greer had been trained and what to do - we walked by strangers, a barking cocker who actually came after us (thank you Tammy for saving us from it!), music, movement, strange sites and Greer walked by my side and did not have ONE SINGLE REACTION. Her confidence was intact, she was happy, and no longer scared....miraculous! There aren't enough words to accurately express the wonderful, path altering experience we had by hiring Tammy the Terrific to work with Greer! Without her intervention, I would have NEVER gotten Greer to where she is now - a sweet, 6 month old, happy, assistance dog in training!

God bless you Tammy!

Please feel free to call me - I would love to tell you more about Tammy and the wonderful training experience and results she gave us!!!!!
